Not turning in time is worse than Porn.
LOL!!! That is the funniest thing that I read in a while!
i believe that the best way to inoculate any friend or relative of yours from becoming more deeply involved in the watchtower is exposure to recordings of the judicial process.. that goes for those already in the watchtower---if you can get them to listen.. what in your opinion are the best available online?.
i recommend several.
i am writing this off the cuff and do not have all the exact links, but you should find them easily.. anondud2 - on youtube.

it took a few years but i finally decided to join yesterday.
my background, born-in, still go to meetings for family reasons, i am inactive however.
if you were to ask when i first woke up i would say 2010 with the overlapping generation garbage.
Welcome Comet!
I too was a long time lurker until about a month a ago. I have been mentally since at least 2010, but I still go to meetings just to keep up appearances. It is becoming tougher and tougher to do, however. I am thankful for websites like this that make it a little easier.
remember when we pointed out how bad child abuse was among christendom?
over the last few years, i haven't heard anything about the rampant abuse claims in christendom.
it's turning out that we have our own to deal with, a lot to deal with.
@Village Idiot
I like this thread but why are you calling it "our religion"?
Unfortunately for many of us, it is still indeed "our religion". Perhaps one day, we can say, "our FORMER religion".

@little_Socrates:
How long till the watchtower admits their mistakes and do everything possible to rectify them?
When the law suits and bad publicity are a daily topic on the evening news. We may be very close to that happening.

Isn't that something? It's turning out the WE are one of the worst offenders. For years, we heard from the platform and read in print about the massive problem that other religions were having with children being abused by "trusted men", but not so much now...
after almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.
@Rebel8
It sounds like you're saying you quit because you didn't like the new format of the talks, and that was your main reason for quitting.
That was part of the reason. The main reason was that I simply did not have the time to that I used to have to get talks out. I started on talks weeks in advance. I am not able to do that anymore. The new arrangement for brothers was just the icing on the cake for me. I certainly do not have the time to track my assistant down for him only to say: "we can go over it before the meeting".
"you young ones, are you worried about college, a career, retirement?
the end is so close!".
how many of us have heard that and are better (or worse) for it?.
i'm new here but not new to researching and questioning the jw beliefs.
i have quite a story.... one that's been haunting me for awhile... but first, i'd like to hear what people have to say about this topic question, please.. -gigi.
@Gigi2121:
Good question. I have been struggling with that question for some time now. After you realize that virtually everything that you learned about the "truth" is not the truth, a void within you is created and is not easily filled.
sorry.
i see it is on jw survey and from one of their earth shaking, mind bending, nausea producing jw.org broadcasts.. .
@Splash:
(Luke 20:46, 47) “Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in robes and who love greetings in the marketplaces and front seats in the synagogues and the most prominent places at evening meals, and who devour the houses of the widows and for show make long prayers. These will receive a more severe judgment.”
Right on!

Things changed whenever they went to strictly bible reading as opposed to the "introduction-bible reading-conclusion" format for the first student talk. It was great if you didn't take pride in your assignments. All you have to do now is get up there, read several scriptures and then sit back down. This format never really made since to me.
I remember one time, I said "Genesis Chapter 2, verses 1 through 15 reads..." and then started into the reading. Guess what? I was counseled to just go into the reading without saying what I was about to read. Even with the reading, I tried to make it unique, just something to break the monotony. You can not be unique in this farce of a religion.
Once the format was changed for the third student talk earlier this year, the writing was on the wall for me.
